Shoes 4 Kids 5k

The Domain was pleased to support the 2008 Shoes 4 Kids 5K, benefiting Shoes for Austin, a local group working to motivate individuals to achieve physical fitness goals by providing them with new, brand-name athletic shoes.

Over the years, there has been a dramatic increase in diabetes and other diseases related to childhood obesity. This epidemic will not improve without coordinated prevention. Through their Shoes 4 Kids incentive program, Shoes for Austin partners with Austin area nonprofits and schools, where children spend a majority of their time, to provide new athletic shoes directly to at-risk children participating in endurance and fitness training programs.

Since its inception in 2000, Shoes for Austin has partnered with more than 90 local nonprofits, and donated more than 59,000 pairs of shoes (valued at more than $5 million) to deserving children and families throughout greater Austin.
